Title:

Synchrosqueezing: The Analysis of Signals with Time-varying Oscillatory Characteristics

Abstract:

Synchrosqueezing is a time-frequency signal analysis and decomposition method that can identify signal components with time-varying amplitude and frequency content. Such signals are produced by many kinds of nonlinear physical systems and this widely applicable approach is being used to study problems in a variety of fields. I will present the main concepts of this theory and describe some recent work quantifying its robustness against noise and other perturbations. I will also discuss some applications of Synchrosqueezing to topics in climate science, electrocardiography and economic stability.
