Synthetic Wideband Waveforms for High Range Resolution, and a Related Cross-band Calibration Technique

The principles of synthetic wideband in radar systems are explained and the related issue of cross-band calibration is discussed. A dynamic cross-band calibration technique is described, together with test and simulation results. This technique is capable of supporting radar cross-band calibration against moving point targets via an extended coherent measurement process, and has the potential to support such calibration against certain targets of opportunity, thereby obviating the need to launch dedicated test targets.
